Allie The Brave
Allie Martineau is an artist, writer, and illustrator from Western Massachusetts.
Their work- ranging from poetry, performance, and fine art- is influenced by the forests and gardens of New England, hybrid poets, queer history, fandom and film.
Allie earned a Master’s degree in Writing for Children from Simmons University in 2019, and have since worked as a news writer and editor, children’s bookseller and reviewer, and art educator. Allie is the illustrator of Steve Herrell’s autobiography Ice Cream and Me (2021) and released their illustrated poetry chapbook HELLO DESIRE in January 2025.
Recently, their art has explored how the heart and body are transmuted by desire and restraint, hunger and home. These explorations have taken their craft into realms of sculpture, multimedia and fiber art- alongside their signature work in watercolor, gouache, and pen.
